On the year 2007 it was found by my grandfather a small article talking about the music of Gabriel Hernández, a Cuban songwriter to whom history books have not done well justice.
Among other famous songs “Ella con su guayabera” stands out for its simple and modal melodies over a more complex and changing rhythms. The song is about the encounter between death and a man who was wearing a red “guayabera”.

This piece is an exploration to the fields of theatre and performative arts but keeping the idea of composing in mind, meaning that all movements on stage and gestures of the performer are written in a traditional format of scoring.
The piece was commissioned by @ColectivoAzul from Chile and wanders about death and identities. The performer tells a story starting from “their own” point of view and getting more and more into the character they are representing.
